WHO IS RODRIGO GRACIE?

Rodrigo is a member of the Gracie family from Brazil. He is the son of Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster Reylson Gracie and the grandson of Carlos Gracie, the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Rodrigo began his Jiu-Jitsu training at just 4 years old, started teaching at the age of 12 and earned his black belt at 18 under his father’s guidance. After that, he moved to the United States to teach at his father’s academy in California. A couple of years later, Rodrigo made the decision to represent the Gracie name by competing in mixed martial arts events. He moved to New York City to train and assist his cousin Renzo Gracie at his academy. Renzo recognized exceptional talent in Rodrigo and chose to train him to fight and represent the Gracie Family.

Following his unbeaten streak in Pride FC, Rodrigo made the decision to join another major fighting organization, K1-MMA. Rodrigo then moved to Los Angeles, California, where he was warmly welcomed by his cousin Royce Gracie. Together, Rodrigo and Royce began training and spending quality time as a family. Currently, Gracie serves as the head instructor at the Rodrigo Gracie Martial Arts Academy located in Torrance, California.Rodrigo is a gold medalist in the ADCC, reconized as the largest and most esteemed tournament in the world. In 2000, Rodrigo participated in his first MMA fight in New York, winning in just 27 seconds.

In 2002, Rodrigo participated in the world’s most esteemed mixed martial arts event, known as the Pride Fighting Championships. There, he distinguished himself as one of the few undefeated fighters in Pride FC, achieving 4 consecutive victories against top fighters in the World. Eager for new challenges, Rodrigo also joined K1 MMA, where he faced off against other prominent figures in the mixed martial arts scene, including BJ Penn.

His current mission is to share the art developed by his grandfather, Carlos Gracie, and his grand uncle Helio Gracie with the entire world.
